Five On Friday

Hello!  Welcome to Five On Friday!!

I have mentioned before that I want to do a video to share with you and yesterday I finally thought that I had cracked it.  I managed to record a video that I didn't hate, that had at least somewhat reasonable content and my plan was to share that with you today for Five On Friday.

Of course the plans went better than the actuality and after hours and hours of trying to upload the video the internet was still not cooperating.  Next week I will be upgrading the internet to Superfast Broadband to see if that helps....  I am the least techy person that you will ever come across, but even I am frustrated by it now.

That is all a very long and shambolic explanation of my also shambolic post today as I don't really have five things to share.  I have put together some random moments from my week and hope that you will forgive me and we can all blame technology for this post....

One

I have another - yes, another - cold!!  What is with these darned colds....  Apparently working alone doesn't expose you to enough germs to keep your immune system up to scratch.  Grrr!

Two

I bought some yarn and what was delivered was what I ordered, but not what I wanted.  Then I ordered some more and what I got is lovely, but the other yarn I ordered is again what I ordered but yes, you guessed it, not what I wanted.  See, I am a tech failure!!  Must pay better attention to online ordering.  Fortunately I can use what I have, just in a different way.

Three

The Easter Bunnies are still in residence in the living room.  I am counting them as spring rabbits.  Do you think that could really be a thing?

Four

Some of you are kind enough to enquire about Man occasionally, so I wanted to update you.  He is so so.  No change for the better, not that we expected one.  He has had two falls recently, in one he ended up with a lump on his head the size of an egg, I didn't realise that that could actually happen, but it does.  Trust me.  In the second he fell through a glass door and was totally unscathed but the door of course wasn't.  The door has now been removed and now we need to work on getting him to let us remove the rugs which are what caused him to have this latest fall.  So, the update is that there is no real change, but that he is as OK as he is going to be right now.  In the meantime we continue to cope as best as we can.

Five

I have started my new tapestry after finishing the previous one, but haven't got very far at all yet.  It will come!  I have been distracted by all the crocheting things that I cannot tell you about right now.  Oh, except one thing, my colleague loved the basket which I was so happy about.  I am making some more for the shop and I hope that those of you who have been kind enough to buy the pattern for them enjoy making your own.  Thank you so much for your purchases, I really do appreciate it, but more than that I really hope you enjoy making your baskets.  Let me know if you need any help.

Also on the crochet note, some of you might remember the special edition packs of the 10 Stylecraft colours that came out earlier this year or late last year.  Well I ordered, ahem, some...  I have had them sitting since then waiting for attention.  Finally I have a project for them!  I don't think that I am cut out to be one of these people who have a stash of yarn.  Far too stressful for me!!!

Although, see Two above...

Yarn has been too much on my mind this week.

Oh, which also reminds me, there is a Coupon Code for 25% off in my Etsy shop until the end of April 2016.  The code is AprilSale2016 if you wish to use it.

I will stop writing this gabble now and go and watch some Real Housewives shouting at each other.  Just what I need after spending three hours in a meeting this evening.  More people shouting at each other.  (I write this on a Thursday evening and schedule the post for Friday morning, sorry, I don't get up pre 6am to write this!).  Just keeping it real folks!!  Either that or the cold meds are getting to me.

I hope that you have had a good week and that you are planning a fun weekend.  We have a lunch out planned - that might turn into brunch instead - other than that I am not sure what else we will do.  A visit to Man to see what the situation is re taking the rugs up and perhaps some gardening if the weather is kind to us.

Whatever you do I hope you enjoy it!  Take care of yourselves my friends and thank you all for being brilliant!  Just wanted you to know that.

Amy

  1. I'm just heading off to bed on Thursday evening, but like to at least write my Five on Friday post first. I checked your blog and the link is up, so I won't be so late this week. I'll be back to read the posts tomorrow.
Yarn is featured in my post this week, too. I hope you get your yarn orders sorted! Nothing like getting something you don't really want for frustration. Have a good weekend, Amy, and of course those are spring bunnies!

  2. You have had an interesting week, Amy, and your posts are always most enjoyable.
Thank you very much for hosting Five on Friday. Enjoy your weekend! xx

  3. You are one amazingly busy gal, Amy, I don't know how you do it all! So sorry you have a cold - I'm sure that is not helping at all. I do hope Mr. Man is agreeable to your rug removal and doesn't have another fall. I am of the opinion that you can't have too many skeins of yarn, even if they are the wrong ones :) I hope you figure out how to upload your videos. Computers can be so frustrating.....Hope you have an enjoyable weekend. xo Karen

  6. I love new wool/yarn in any way shape or form. I was gifted a huge sack from my friend's mum after she passed away. I wrote a post how I knit a teddy for her little girl from the pink fluffy wool part cushion that was on the needles that her mum had started before she died. I even used the same needles. Anyway, digressing, in that bag was some balls of wool, with ancient labels on in a colour that I call American Tan as in the tights. It's quite vile! Not orangey enough for a knitted fox. I was sorting through the wool again, and I couldn't bring myself to throw it out!!! Telling myself I'll knit with it one day!!! I'm a hoarder I think!

  7. Gosh, man was lucky not to be seriously injured wasn't he? Hope you're feeling better soon - I'd managed to go all through the winter without a cold and have had one now for the past 2 weeks. I'm now at that irritating cough stage that keeps me awake at night. I'll think of you when I'm drinking my lemon and ginger tea! Looking forward to watching your videos and I think that spring bunnies are a perfectly valid idea. Have a good weekend. xx

  8. Hope your cold doesn't hang around too long. I'm looking forward to seeing what you create with all the new yarn. Have a nice weekend.

  9. Hope you are feeling better soon. Hopefully technology will get better soon. If I were you I would hunker down for the weekend and ignore anything to irritate. Sounds like your wool stash is growing ;) Thanks for hosting. B xx

  10. I can't wait till your film comes out. There always seems to be an annoying palaver when it comes to the computer and usually when you think you are almost there. Hope you get rid of your cold and that Man gets rid of his rugs. Enjoy your weekend, crocheting by the sound of it. x

  12. have a lovely weekend Amy, get well soon, (perhaps take some vitamin D tablets if you keep getting ill?) x

  13. Technology is wonderful but it can also be a great pain too, hope you can sort things out soon. Also hope you soon feel better from your cold and that Man will be ok and that you can persuade him to get rid of the rugs:)

  14. Some years there are cold virus strains circulating here that have not been around before, and you get more colds because you are not immune yet. I hope you feel better soon, colds have a way of making you feel really rubbish. Distraction by crochet sounds like a good plan. Have a lovely weekend. x

  15. Well at least I know I am not the only one who is useless with technology. Hope you are feeling better soon. Sounds like a great yarn stash. Take care.

  16. Not another cold. I hope it clears up soon. Buying yarn always cheers me up, as well as starting new projects, so I'm sure your recovery will be speedy.

  17. My goodness....all this craft work, fixing doors, yarn orders, a cold and you STILL have time to do tapestry?!!! You go girl.

  18. Spring rabbits can definitely be a thing, and if they were not before, you have started it now! So sorry about the cold; the season has started here too, and I am nursing the sore throat and malaise, grrrr. Man sounds like he is in the same zone as my father these days. Falls have become part of his life too, despite all efforts to prevent same. Dad's room has been changed around to try to decrease the problem. He too has had large bumps and bruises on his head. It is sad for them both. Can't wait to see the new tapestry, what a great crafter you are Amy. xx

  19. Oh my goodness, Man's fall could have been so much worse, I do hope you can get him to agree to removing the rugs. Hope you're feeling better soon, colds are no fun to have.

  20. Enjoy the weekend, hope the cold vanishes and doesn't return. You are in a yarn dilemma, have you decided what to do with the yarn that wasn't really what you wanted?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh boy...we call those rugs throw rugs because that's just what they do. I haven't been around that long so I'll need to go back and see if I understand who Man might be. I'm so sorry your cold has returned. This last strain seems to be quite persistent. Bunnies are definitely Spring! I'm pretty lame in the technology world. Just glad I have younger people around me to help. Hope your weekend is restful and lovely.

  22. Sorry to hear you have another cold. Get well soon x

  23. Oh I hear you about the techy stuff. I think it'll get me in the end. Sorry about the yarn, but feeling confident that you'll make it into something wonderful. And I certainly hope that Easter rabbits can become spring ones because one is sitting on my dining room table. The eggs in her hat have been covered with a butterfly so that should do it, though John repeatedly tells me that he is tired of her looking so intently at his salad.

  24. Oh do I know what you mean about ordering yarn online, I usually end up having to go out to a store to get what I need.
Sorry about Man, it is so much harder on you and your husband than it is for him.

  25. Sorry you've got another cold. We're struggling to get over a virus here, it's dragging on and on. I've had a tech failure with a DVD player, apparently I need a hugely expensive cable to join it all up, it's ridiculous. What's the betting I still can't get it to work when the missing piece gets here. I hope you have a lovely relaxing weekend, with a little time to work on your tapestry. CJ xx

  27. I hate technology which is quite something coming from a background in IT! I'm ok at "doing" technology, it just always feels like you have to battle with it. Hate colds too. Hope yours is better soon xxx

  28. Sorry about your incorrect orders! And I'm sorry to hear your hubby is having issues. Plus now you have another cold! Not a happy list but part of life, unfortunately. It was good to read about your week, and thank you for hosting your meme! I apologise mine is so long this time!

  31. Oh dear, I can't believe I am again writing "I do hope you're feeling better soon", which I've done on four posts now. There must be some mighty bugs hanging around UK at the moment. I'm just on catchup after being away for a week with little internet access so am just about to read a couple of your other posts. Have a good weekend and take care.

  32. Oh my goodness sweet Gal! You need to up your vitamin C or something!! No more sickness now...that's quite enough. ;)

I still have my bunnies about and they are absolutely Spring bunnies and it's all good as far as I'm concerned. Lol

Sorry "Man" is still being kind of difficult. One day at a time my Friend.

Looking forward to seeing more of your lovely handiwork!! Blessings for a beautiful weekend dear Amy! xoxo

  33. I have some nice spring rabbits too that hung around after Easter. And I live one in the yard! Thanks for hosting Five--this is my first time. I will be back to visit more. Have a nice weekend.

  34. Oh dear, I hope your cold disappears soon and you feel better very quickly! Shame about the yarn order, but I'm sure you'll find a good use for it all. You sound very busy these days Amy, so I hope it's all in a good way. Sorry to hear about your troubles with the gentleman. That fall through the glass sounds horrific, and I'm glad he was OK. My parents were advised to remove all their scatter rugs from their floors too (by a care worker). Easiest way to fall apparently. My dad has suffered falls continuously, taking grandfather clock and flat screen TV with him. Hopefully things will come to a head so they can be resolved properly. Hugs to you my friend, you sound like you need it. Have a great weekend and enjoy your day out with hubby :)

  35. Hi Amy
I'm sorry to hear you're poorly again - that's Spring weather for you!
I gather you're not "full of the joys of Spring".
Take care I'm sure you will soon.
Thank you for hosting Five on Friday - you did well!

  45. You have my sympathy with the cold. My darling other half brought one home from work and I now have a glowing nose and a hacking cough. I think I need more whisky (for medicinal purposes, obviously.) :)

  46. Random things work I think, sometimes weeks can be random. Hope the cold has gone now and you've had a lovely week. Thanks for hosting and sorry for the very late comment, I'm not sure where this week has gone xx
